The forthcoming  United Nations Climate Conference will take place in Katowice Poland in December 2018.
It is important to understand the implications of- business as usual- scenarios and its dangers for the European Union, to understand how much of the current migration crisis is caused by climate change and the threat that poses to European integration and the future of Europe, but also the various options currently available according to science and policy with regard to the choices of both ambition and solutions.For more information please email info@geiconferences.org or info@geiclimate.org
The Green Economics Institute has created some climate scenarios and works with top scientists and they agree that this idea is significant and will be discussed by the top COP leadership and therefore it is vital to hold an event to put it forward to those interested to explore the impacts of the various scenarios.
The day will have a number of speakers, experts and our delegates to the Katowice United Nations Programme to ensure that Europe gets offered the best possible outcome which has been explored in such an event fully from as many angles as possible.

The day will include a Call for Papers, presentations and expert panels around the idea of an implementation of a Two tonnes of carbon europe and in particular it will explore the likely impacts of both business as usual and climate impacts  so far, the business as usual impacts and the impacts of implementing the 2 tonnes of carbon scenarios on each of the  regions with an aim of issuing a report after this event.

 This is causing great challenges for a country based on its reliance on coal mining.
The future of energy, transport and food will be explored but most importantly the economics effects of climate change for theAcademic journal.The International Journal of Green Economics www.inderscience.com/ijge

Our books– we have a lively publishing house www.geibooks.org.ukEuropean economy and how we can work together on that in the challenging years to come and in particular our institute specialises in supporting countries who try to make a transformation and we can help them in the challenges they face.
This event is designed to examine  climate change scenarios  and to start a proces of examining possible policy options. This follows on from our work at Bonn in Germany where we began the negotiations for such a climate and economic

 

scenario in November 2018.

The aim is to involve speakers, writers and policy makers from around Europe and to provide some policy advise arising from the findings of the event.
It will build on previous work we have done including a range of books on europe, The greening of Europe, also launched at Europe House, The Greening of the Mediteranean, THe European Economy Crisis and Recovery, the Greening of Eastern Europe and many more.
The continuing relationship with Europe and collaboration on climate change is absolutely vital and this event begins that process

explicitly.

About the Green Economics InstituteThe Green Economics Institute is an official Research Organisation of the United Nations and as such we have our own delegation to the COP United Nations Climate Conferences each year and play a part especially in raising the ambition of the processes.

The Green Economics Institute works  to foster collaboration at all levels in all its work. We have won the Luxembourg Honour award for Green Business, and also several other awards. We chaired the Oxford University’s only science panel at COP21 Paris climate conference and ran a conference in Bonn last autumn as part of the COP23 process. Our work is very international  We seek to reform mainstream economics, to create the discipline of green economics, we run the worlds only and first green academic double blind peer reviewed journal- The International Journal of Green Economics and also we aim to include social and environmental justice in the discourse and policy making of Economics around Europe. We are very active in solutions and innovation, and are a leading think tank. We provide policy advise around Europe and have spoken at numerous universities around Europe from FYR Macedonia to Spain and many others.
